“Growgood is a los angeles based non-profit creating urban agricultural programs to empower people and transform communities. We believe in the power of food to unite people and to lay foundations for healthy communities. Growgood works with the salvation army's bell shelter to maintain a vibrant 1.5-acre urban farm adjacent to the shelter. The bell shelter is one of the largest homeless shelters in the country and is home to approximately 500 men and women, approximately 30% of whom are veterans. In exchange for land and utilities, growgood delivers fresh, nutritious produce to the shelter kitchen, which serves more than 6,000 meals to residents each week on a limited budget.
