CATI (CONGO ANIMAL TRACTION INITIATIVE) - THIS PROGRAM HAS ACHIEVED TRACTION WITHIN THE LOCAL FARMER COMMUNITY FOR USING TRAINED OXEN TO CULTIVATE FIELDS FOR GROWING A WIDE ARRAY OF CROPS. THE USE OF THE OXEN, WHICH WERE PURCHASED AND TRAINED BY DONATIONS THROUGH CONGO-VOICE, WILL ENABLE THE FARMERS TO CULTIVATE MORE LAND, IMPROVE PRODUCTION BY PLANTING DEEPER IN THE SOIL, AND REDUCE BACK-BREAKING LABOR IN THE FARMING PROCESS. 15 ADDITIONAL OXEN HAVE BEEN PURCHASED AND TRAINED THIS PAST YEAR AND 80 ADDITIONAL FARMERS HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE CLIENT LIST. GCC (GEMENA COMMUNITY CENTER) - THE LAND HAS BEEN PURCHASED, THE INITIAL DESIGN OF THE FACILITY IS COMPLETED, AND WE ARE RAISING THE REMAINING $250,000 TO COMPLETE AND LAUNCH THE PROJECT.
