“The FIDO Alliance welcomes all organizations interested in helping to create a more secure online ecosystem for users and businesses. Membership allows organizations to participate in the definition of a standard protocol for secure authentication. By participating in developing the technical standard, and in planning and executing the Alliances marketing, certification and deployment programs organizations will gain a thorough understanding of how authentication is evolving to ensure a secure internet for the future.Benefits from participation in the Alliances activities that members will experience include:Stronger account/transaction security This results in lower loss rates and fewer problems to mitigate, and will bring the possibility of improved customer loyalty and less churn. Improved authentication will also reduce risk and enable new business models and revenue streams.Improved user experience The FIDO solution enables businesses to improve convenience for both customers and employees. As users no longer need to remember complex passwords, user provisioning is therefore simplified and the cost associated with remote password resets will be drastically reduced.Improved return of investment in authentication The costs associated with the deployment and support of new solutions will be significantly reduced in comparison to current proprietary approaches which connect a single device type to a single application. System management functionality will be provided by the FIDO infrastructure, rather than having to be built by each application developer. “The Executive Director was hired during the previous FIDO Alliance Presidents tenure. This occurred after discussion with the Board and upon agreement from the Board that it was in the Alliances best interest to have a fulltime ED. Compensation was determined primarily from previous experiences that the FIDO Alliance officers had with Standards Organizations (this excluded the Secretary due to the fact that he was an employee of the same company as the candidate). The Board did not conduct surveys or utilize the Management company in evaluating how the proposed compensation compared to the industry. As a measure of flexibility, the Board agreed to make ~20% of that roles total compensation variable, based on performance, which would allow the Board to adapt compensation if it was determined that it was not commensurate with the role.”
