Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Kind Kamp- A three week educational ecology program for kids 9-14. We served over 150 children and adults in our local community teaching them about their local and world ecology. How their daily habits impact the world they lived in. In each 4 hour session meeting once per week for three weeks we would explore the anatomy of plants through the visual arts by painting leaves, stems, roots and flowers of the plant on a canvas with a professional artist. They would see a live performance about a specific ecological topic such as the integration of garden elements via a live stage show. How organic elements work together via a dance performance and how to reuse items found around our home via a hands on craft projects. The end of each day all of the participants went into the garden and planted native plants, vegetables, and wildflowers that they would care for for the rest of the year. The parents also benefited by receiving a tray of 18 native tree seedlings to plant in their yard to increase biodiversity in the community. Native Tree give aways and educational seminars- In 2015 we gave away over 6,000 native tree seedlings, native plants and thousands of wildflowers. Reaching over 4,000 members of the community we shared the importance of planting native trees and plants and providing non GMO wildflowers for pollinators. We presented at various festivals, groups, and schools and showed participants how to care for those plants for years of healthy growth. Butterfly Gardens- In 2015 we planted over 20 wildflower and butterfly gardens in area schools, Women's Clubs, Arts organizations and homes. We gave seminars and explained how to care for their gardens with ease. We increased biodiversity in our community and also provided pollinators with food, shelter and a place to raise young. Park Restorations- In 2015 we gave native tree seedlings to the local State Park to assist with their restoration process. We also provided advice and consultation in that restoration process. This will serve thousands of residents and wildlife this year and many years to come. Animal Sanctuary- In 2015 9 rescued animals were cared for and given forever homes. These animals were also photographed and used to show humane animal care and how to live with domestic animals and enjoy wild animals in an urban setting. Thousands of people have access to this information via our social media sites, blogs and promotions. We are showcasing the importance of caring for other living beings in order to become productive and beneficial citizens of our community. Brighter Future Foundation achieved an increase in ecological awareness in the community. Increased biodiversity in our community. Increased the desire to care for and continue to learn in our community. Increased beautification in our community.$11,967$17,005
