Mission

Birches school is an independent, co-educational kindergarten through 8th grade school offering rigorous, interdisciplinary academics within a mindful, nurturing environment.

Birches School is an elementary school inspired by the principles of Reggio Emilia, but adapted to meet the needs of the 21st century education by combining individualized, child-centered, multi-age teaching with intelligently applied technology and a focus on nature and the arts. Within our emergent curriculum, students become strong collaborators, flexible thinkers, and effective problem solvers positioned to thrive in our world. Students, teachers, and parents form a mutually supportive community that bolsters classroom, local and global citizenship.
