“Shiek yasson school - a4t girls home schools (sheik yasson, wardak province). A4t supported 134 students, teacher salaries, supplies, and the building of new classrooms in 2018. A4t is the first nonprofit organization to provide education for girls in sheik yassin, wardak province. This area has been strongly influenced by the taliban. When the initial school was built for girls, the taliban sent night letters and banned girls from attending. The agreement with the village council (shura) was to turn the school over for boys only, and girls would continue education in five private home schools, but would follow the curriculum of the ministry of education. In keeping with our mission statement to service self-sufficient projects. The afghan ministry of education agreed to take over the girls' education beginning in 2016. In 2015, the ministry and shura allowed the girls to go to the local boys' school during the afternoon shift. A4t will continue to provide support and additional funding, such as science fair projects, teacher capacity building, and plans to work closely with the local shura to expand girls' education into higher grade levels.”
