“Shiek yasson school: a4t girls home schools (sheik yasson, wardak province). A4t supported 265 female students in 2015, grades 4 to 9, in one home school. A4t is the first nonprofit organization to provide education for girls in sheik yassin, wardak province. This area has been strongly influenced by the taliban. When the initial school was built for girls, the taliban sent night letters and banned girls from attending. The agreement with the village council (shura) was to turn the school over for boys only, and girls would continue education in five private home schools, but would follow the curriculum of the ministry of education. In keeping with our mission statement to service self-sufficient projects. The afghan ministry of education agreed to take over the girls' education beginning in 2016. In 2015, the ministry and shura allowed the girls to go to the local boys' school during the afternoon shift. A4t will continue to provide support and additional funding, such as science fair projects, teacher capacity building, and plans to work closely with the local shura to expand girls' education into higher grade levels.”
“Farda-e-afghan school: successfully transitioned from a4t to afghan ownership in 2012. It is a private, tuition-based school that continues to receive honors. A4t funded tuition support for 53 females at farda-e- afghanan private school or tomorrow's afghans private school in 2015. Of these 53 female students, 40 paid no fees and 13 paid reduced fees.these girls are able to attend this school through subsidies provided by afghans4tomorrow. In addition, we support science fair and teacher training programs for the school. The main objective of this program is to build the capacity of teachers with methodology, academic classses, rules and students' personality genesis.”
“Winter program: the purpose of the winter program is to provide firewood, stoves and other heat sources to the poor who otherwise have difficulty keeping themselves warm during the winter months and to provide medical care to those suffering from cold weather-related illnesses such as frostbite. There were over 24,000 worth of stoves and fuel distributed during 2015.”
“Abdullah omar health post, sheik yassin, chak district, wardak province. Since 2007, a4t has provided health care to over 90,000 patients in this small village, including checkups, maternal health care, medical treatment by doctors and medications. Our private midwife facility adjacent to health post has now reported 65 babies delivered since 2012. A very small fee is charged for services and medicines, except for the poor who can't pay. Funding of this program in 2015 came to and end and diligent efforts are being made to continue a4t's efforts to service this village with vital health care services.”
