Mission

The mission of emmanuel hospice, an interfaith partnership, is to provide exemplary spiritual and physical care creating a peaceful experience for the dying and their loved ones.

To provide end of life hospice care and related services to individuals in the community who have a terminal condition.

Members/stockholders: emmanuel hospice includes the following shareholder organizations: - st ann's home, 54 percent of the total shares - porter hills presbyterian village, 18 percent of the total shares - clark retirement community, 18 percent of the total shares - sunset manor, 10 percent of the total shares directors and officers of the organizations are appointed and removed by the organization's shareholders. Changes in purpose, mergers, incurrence of long-term debt, sale of assets greater than $5,000, hiring of executive director require unanimous stockholder vote.

Review of form 990: the form 990 is prepared by an independent accounting firm based on the reviewed financial statements and information provided by the accounting department of the organization. Prior to filing, a draft of the form 990 is reviewed by the finance committee. The board of directors receive a copy of the form 990 prior to filing.

Monitoring compliance with conflict of interest policy: on an annual basis, the conflict of interest policy is signed by each board member. If a conflict does arise, the situation is reviewed with the member and the board chair.
