Part III, Line 4: Description of organization'S collections and how it furthers its purpose.

Charles and Sarah Allis (Charles Allis Art Museum) acquired many works of fine art during their marriage with the intent of donating their home and the art work to the residents of Milwaukee county. We use this collection, along with the Smith family home (Villa Terrace Art Museum) to educate and entertain and preserve history for the public.

IRS990/Desc0Approximately six fine art exhibitions are held annually, at the Charles Allis Art Museum Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum. Exhibitions focus on local and regional artistic production and thought. In 2015 we held four exhibitions at the Charles Allis Art Museum: American Beauty (UWM Student Thesis Show work regarding Thomas Cole's 1935 "Essay on American Secnery"), Art for the Cause (French Posters from the First World War), More on Less: The Art of Burlesque, Recent Works: Terrance Coffman, and Threshold (a mansion wide contemporary art show featuring local, regional and interanational artists curated by Niki Johnson). Three exhibitions were held at the Villa Terrace: Private Spaces Public Authority (featuring architectural ornament from the collection of the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee along with examples of their adaptive reuse), Hidden Treasures: Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts in our Midst (Featuring the previously unknown collection of Milwaukeean John S. Winkowski) and New Hanji: A Korean Paper Making Tradition Re-Imagined. of pr . Exhibitions are funded through the organization's operating budget as well as select grants and donations.Community arts programming in 2015 included Art in the Garden (fall art experience/workshops with MPS Students), Veterans Workshops (Joint program with the VA Medical Center and their PTSD Programming), Red Leaf Artoberfest Art Fair, Tea on the Terrace, Mad Hatter Tea, History Lectures, Author Nights, Yearly Classic Film Schedules and Cafe Sopra Mare weekly music series. Programming and events are funded through the museum's operating budget, grants and sponsorships.
