Mission

Organization is dedicated to supporting families impacted by and raising awareness about childhood apraxia of speech (cas) and other invisible disabilities, (including, but not limited to, sensory processing disorder (spd), anxiety, epilepsy, non-specific learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (adhd), dyslexia, autism, tourette's syndrome, and other speech and language disorders. It also provides grants to fund supplemental therapies, treatments, activities, or equipment that will enhance the lives of individual children impacted by cas and other invisible disabilities. The organization seeks to provide information and resources for all families impacted by cas and invisisble disabilities, but focus on funding those in northwest ohio and southeastern michigan. It is made up of parents, grandparents, caregivers and professionals working together to make a difference one family at a time.

Supported families affected by cas with grants to fund supplemental therapies, treatments, activities, or equipment that will enhance the lives of afflicted individual children. Payments made directly to preapproved treatment providers, assessors or materials vendors. Obtain donations of technology, educational games and materials, and instructional items to be placed directly with afflicted children. The organization has provided area children with apple devices to use for therapy and/or communication, provided therapeutic summer camp, equipment and other activities to more than 300 area children, teachers, therapists and therapy facilities. The organization sponsors activities for cas families that allow the children to participate and interact with other cas children. The events have included family fun day at the toledo zoo, bgsu hockey game, secret santa, and a mud hens baseball game. . Grants totaling 34,808 were awarded to 51 applicants. The payments were made directly to service providers or material providers for additional therapies, specialty summer camps, and equipment to assist with learning and/or communicating. . Donations of equipment, ipads, educational toys, gift cards and other items made directly to cas individuals totaled 27,554. . In-kind donations totaling 76,769 were made by 334 individuals and businesses. Items donated were used for family fun day activities, other organization events, prizes, raffles and equipment, games and books for cas children. Office space donated was valued at 10,000. . 70 was donated to be used for family support outings and events.

The organization provided information and resources for any family impacted by cas and invisible disabilities by providing grants to parents to attend educational conferences. In addition, three to four smaller support meetings for parents and caregivers are arranged each year, with speakers addressing apraxia topics. Books have been donated to area libraries as a resource for disorders supported by the organization.

THE PAYMENTS WERE MADE DIRECTLY TO SERVICE PROVIDERS OR MATERIAL PROVIDERS FOR ADDITIONAL THERAPIES, SPECIALTY SUMMER CAMPS, AND EQUIPMENT TO ASSIST WITH LEARNING AND/OR COMMUNICATING. . DONATIONS OF EQUIPMENT, IPADS, EDUCATIONAL TOYS, GIFT CARDS AND OTHER ITEMS MADE DIRECTLY TO CAS INDIVIDUALS TOTALED 27,554. . IN-KIND DONATIONS TOTALING 76,769 WERE MADE BY 334 INDIVIDUALS AND BUSINESSES.
