The organization monitors, on an annual basis, any possible conflicts of interest. Each year all board members confirm that there are no conflicts of interest in serving as a member of the board. If there is a conflict with a specific voting matter, the board member will remove themselves from the vote and it will be noted in the meeting minutes.

The ceo's compensation is determined by the executive committee. The ceo holds the responsibility of ensuring fair and relevant compensation for the remainder of the staff as measured by the appropriate market benchmarks for comparable positions. Form 990, part vi, section b, line 15b: employees hired prior to the organization being open were interviewed and selected by the executive director and a hiring committee made up of board members and advisors. This committee also assisted in the compensation of these hired employees,ensuring they were market relevant.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization evaluates tax positions taken on it's federal exempt organization business income tax returns in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, which require that tax positions taken be more-likely-than-not to be sustained. Management believes that the organization has no significant unrecognized tax benefits under that criteria. Penalties and interest, if any, assessed by income taxing authorities are included in operating expenses. The organization's federal exempt organization business income tax returns are generally subject to examination by taxing authorities for three years after they are filed.
