The organization is a member of a nonprofit administrative services organization that provides certain group purchasing and management contracting services. During 2022, the organization paid $409,929 to this administrative services organization for information systems support services and medical benefit premiums.

The Finance Committee reviews and approves prior to filing. Copies of the 990 are made available to the Board.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12C

Each year at a board meeting, we review the conflict of interest policy and ask each board member to complete the COI Policy Statement which indicates if a conflict exists. The same process occurs at Medical Advisory Board and Finance Committee meetings. In addition, via email we require all LifeCenter staff members (whether officer or not) to complete the COI policy statement.

Financial Statement Notes

Part X, Line 2:

LifeCenter Organ Donor Network and LifeCenter Memorial Fund are exempt from income taxes under Section 501 of the Internal Revenue Code and a similar provision of Ohio Law. However, the organizations are subject to federal income tax on any unrelated business taxable income. LifeCenter's IRS Form 990 is subject to review and examination by federal and state authorities. LifeCenter believes it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken, and therefore, does not have any uncertain income tax positions that are material to the financial statements.

IRS990/Desc0To provide service to the community through the procurement and distribution of kidneys and other organs, to educate the medical and lay community concerning organ and tissue procurement, and to provide technical, medical, administrative and social service to persons giving or receiving organs for transplant. In 2022, LifeCenter managed 98 organ donors, 697 tissue donors and 371 imports of organs in order to save, enhance and change the lives of numerous individuals in need of an organ or tissue transplant.Additional services offered by LifeCenter include bereavement services for donor families, volunteer opportunities and donor registry drives for area businesses and organizations in order to assist in the enrollment of donors. LifeCenter provides 24-hour service for referrals, case management and organ placement. LifeCenter serves Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana and works with all of the hospitals in this area to coordinate donation.
