Mission

A national mission institution (nmi) in a convenant relationship with the national united methodist women to serve low-income kansas city families with education, immediate assistance, and welfare-to-work supportive services. The program includes a child care program, early education, social services, youth services, and refugee resettlement program to assist refugees with housing, food, clothing, professional services, and employment placement to aid in the transition to the local area.

All board members and key employees are required to complete the "missouri ethics commission personal financial disclosure statement" on an annual basis. The state of missouri reviews and monitors these forms for completion and potential conflicts and informs della lamb management of potential issues. Management addresses any potential conflicts with the individuals.

In connection with this review, this committee determines the evp's compensation. Della lamb owns a limited liability company which purchased rental property with operating capital funds in 2009. In 2010, della lamb acquired debt to replenish its operating account. Since della lamb did not directly use debt to purchase the rental property it does not fall into the category of unrelated business income pursuant to irc sec 514(c)(4).

The majority of the income from the endowment funds is intended for the general operations of the organization with a small amount to be added to the original gifts.

PART X, LINE 2:

Della lamb community services is generally exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. Taxable income for nhp, a limited liability corporation, passes through to della lamb community services. Accordingly, no provision for income taxes is recorded. The organization recognizes the financial statement benefit of a tax position only after determining that the relevant tax authority would more likely than not sustain the position following an audit. For tax positions meeting the more-likely-than-not threshold, the amount recognized in the financial statements is the largest benefit that has a greater than 50% likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement with the relevant tax authority. The organization is subject to income tax regulations in the u.s. Federal jurisdiction and certain state jurisdictions. Tax regulations within each jurisdiction are subject to the interpretation of the related tax laws and regulations and require significant judgment to apply. With few exceptions, the organization is no longer subject to income tax examinations by the applicable tax authorities for the years before 2011. If any were to be incurred, the organization's policy is to record penalties and interest assessed by income tax authorities as operating expenses.
