Mission and Program Overview

Mission

We are us speedskating, a family inspired by our olympic legacy, committed to growing our sport, developing character through our shared values, and achieving international competitive success on ice.

US Speedskating's exempt purpose is to promote speedskating in the United States and succeed athletically at international competitions. US speedskating's mission is to be one of the premier speedskating organizations in the world through excellence in leadership, development and performance. We are primarily focused on training and development of elite athletes for international competition including the Winter Olympic Games.US Speedskating is also responsible for the grassroots development of speedskating. The association supports athlete development camps as well as coaching and officiating educational training across the country. It also funds the production of promotional speedskating materials including training tapes and development materials. US Speedskating is a member of the US Olympic Committee (USOC) and the International Skating Union.

“OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Events- US speedskating conducts US Championship, world cup, world championship and international events in the United States. These events attract international skaters and/or select team members to represent the United States in international competitions. Staging these events in the United States provides competitive advantage for US athletes and promotes the sport of speedskating domestically. US Speedskating has a requirement with our international federation to hold world cup events. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Athlete stipends are provided to skaters in order to promote the sport of speedskating. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: Team Competitions - US Speedskating sends coaches and athletes to competitions both domestically and internationally.”

IRS990/MissionDesc0US Speedskating's exempt purpose is to promote speedskating in the United States and succeed athletically at international competitions. US speedskating's mission is to be one of the premier speedskating organizations in the world through excellence in leadership, development and performance. We are primarily focused on training and development of elite athletes for international competition including the Winter Olympic Games.US Speedskating is also responsible for the grassroots development of speedskating. The association supports athlete development camps as well as coaching and officiating educational training across the country. It also funds the production of promotional speedskating materials including training tapes and development materials. US Speedskating is a member of the US Olympic Committee (USOC) and the International Skating Union.
