Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6

The educational community credit union has 7552 members having a deposit of$25 (1 share) or greater in their account(s), (1 share represents equalownership interest), at year end.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7A

All members have the opportunity through mail balloting to participate inthe annual election of officers. Officers elected will serve on the 9member governing body of the credit union. The election deadline is inearly march prior to the annual membership meeting. Each elected boardmember is announced at the annual membership meeting, and serves a 3 yearterm. Terms are staggered so that 3 positions expire each year, therebyproviding a consistent input of member needs, continuity of actions taken, and the result is effective growth and leadership.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

Since the credit union is a state regulated and federally insured financial institution, the 990 form is completed by our cpa. Other government tax payments and reporting are completed on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis by the chief financial officer. Tax reporting includes feral forms 941, w2, w3, 940 (futa), state withholding tax, state unemployement tax (suta), and missouri franchise tax. Additionally, the cfo completes the federal ncua 5300 call report on a quarterly basis, which is where the majority of the information is derived from to complete the 990 form. A copy is given to the board chairperson, who keeps a copy on file, as well as a copy for membership review in our main lobby information center.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Annually all employees must read and sign an acknowledgement that they willcomply with our current personnel policies. Management and supervisorsmonitor staff on a daily basis for compliance. Board reviews policiesannually for improvement, corrections, and updating.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 18

Also available in lobby waiting area or via email if the member requests a copy.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

The credit union makes its governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements available to the membership and to the public upon written request to management. It also provides information at the annual membership meeting in the annual reports data packet. The packet is also on file in our lobby for members to pick up. The annual audit report from our cpa's covers a 12 month period, and is available upon request.
