Mission

To raise funds to assist the Neosho R-5 School District by purchasing equipment,educational materials, and helping to defray the cost of capital improvements.

Program Services

The trust provided a total of $12,532 to the Neosho R-5 School District for use in several different areas as described below:$900 of the total was allocated to the Jefferson Street Campus, the alternative school for at-risk students,to help fund year-long service learning projects, character incentives and the Student of the Week program.$362 was awarded to the AFJROTC department to defray the cost of admissions to Moody Gardens in the Galveston/Houston, Texas area. Moody Gardens is a public, non-profit educational destination utilizing nature in the advancement of rehabilitation, conservation, recreation and research. The visit to Moody Gardens was just part of a Curiculum in Action trip. The CIA trip to Texas rewarded twenty-one cadets of outstanding character and service while promoting interest in aerospace science and technology.$350 was received from band supporters and subsequently given to the Neosho Band Boosters for use by the instrumental music program.$1,000 was given to the Club 115 group at the Jefferson Street Campus, the alternative school for at-risk students. Student members of this club participate in several projects such as dinner nights, instruction and preparation of meals during the Family and Consumer Science class, and the establishment and maintenance of a community garden on the campus.$1,500 was awarded to the Carver Elementary School library to purchase a selection of curriculum-supporting Ebooks for use by all students and staff of the school.$600 was awarded to the Neosho Junior High School art department to purchase a digital document camera for the art classroom.Another $600 was awarded to the Neosho High School art department to purchase a document camera. The cameras enhance the teaching process by allowing teachers to project demonstration images onto a Smartboard so all students can see the image at the same time.$270 was awarded to a 3rd grade class at Carver Elementary School to purchase stereo headphones, a science kit, a science interactive whiteboard set and a cassette recorder/player.$500 was awarded to the a 7th grade class at Neosho Middle School for purchase of sixty copies of a classic adolescent novel.$500 was awarded to fund a listening center, books on tape and CDs for the 3rd grade class of Central Elementary School. Another $500 was awarded to the Neosho High School Counseling Department. The funds, along with a matching grant of $260 from another source, were to be used to take junior and senior students on college visits to four area compuses. Approximately 150-200 students were given the opportunity to explore post-secondary options. $450 was awarded to the Goodman Elementary School for the purchase of stability balls for the kindergarten classes. Replacing chairs with stability balls has been shown to improve students' ability to focus and to channel their energy in more productive ways.$5,000 was awarded to Bright Futures Neosho. This organization establishes partnerships between the local school system and community business, individuals and other organizations in an attempt to make sure that underprivileged students' basic needs are met through the back-pack, lunch buddy and clothing programs.$12,532-
