Based on the data, the consultant makes a recommendation to the compensation committee of the board. The board discusses the recommendations and makes a decision as to what will be provided for the year. The president of the board provides the information to the vp of finance to implement. An outside consultant is engaged to provide benchmark data for comparable positions in comparably sized medical centers.
