Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 11B

The organization's irs form 990 is first reviewed by the finance committee. Upon approval of the finance committee, an electronic version is sent to the board of directors for their review. Unless a board member has questions, the 990 is then approved and filed.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 12C

At the beginning of each year, each board member signs a conflict of interest statement and is instructed to notify the board president of any changes during the year.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 15A

The board chair and members of the steering committee have researched executive director compensation, contacting other similar nonprofits in the area, state and neighboring states to make a salary recommendation to the steering committee. The executive director is reviewed by the board chair with feedback from the board.

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Which resulted in the allen county commissioners dedicating 1m in their budget for rural trail development to continue developing the pufferbelly trail from life bridge church to shoaff rd and union chapel rd. We worked with allen county parks to plan for development of payton county park including a trail head and trail spur for the future pufferbelly trail. They were preliminary awarded a dnr land and water conservation grant largely due to the trail connection. We also worked with allen county highway department, allen county parks, leo-cedarville, grabill, fort wayne utilities and fw parks and recreation to plan and fund-raise for the cedar creek parks trail which is an 8 mile trail connecting metea county park to hurshtown reservoir. The trail is estimated to cost around 6m and continued efforts are under way to raise that money. This project would start in 2019. We also worked with the new allen alliance which works with the communities in east allen during their strategic investment planning sessions to ensure trails were included in future development plans for all of the seven communities. We continued to work with the city of fort wayne for oversight of the use of the 1.7m of regional cities funding from the regional development authority as approved in 2017. Fort wayne trails continues to play an important part raising private dollars and getting individual donors to support trail development. In addition, we raised 100,000 for trail development through the 100 mile/100k campaign in addition to the more than 80,000 raised through other means. The money raised was used specifically for right-of-way purchasing for the pufferbelly trail and pedestrian crossing signals at cook, wallen and ludwig roads. Form 990 part ix, line 1 - grants and other assistance contributions in the amount of 57,159 were made to allen county government for trail development including right of way acquisition for the pufferbelly trail from payton county park to gump road. An additional 50,000 was given to the city of fort wayne to be used to buy pedestrian equipment for crossing at wallen, cook and ludwig roads on the pufferbelly trail.

IRS990/Desc0FORT WAYNE TRAILS PLAYED A KEY ROLE IN TRAIL DEVELOPMENT, PROJECT COORDINATION AND PLANNING. FWT WORKED CLOSELY WITH THE CITY OF FORT WAYNE TO STAY INFORMED ON PROJECTS THEY WERE MANAGING AND ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN PROJECT PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT WITH ALLEN COUNTY, NEW HAVEN, LEO CEDARVILLE, MONROEVILLE, WOODBURN, GRABILL, AND HUNTERTOWN. IN SEPTEMBER 2017, WE CELEBRATED THE 100TH MILE OF PAVED MULTI-PURPOSE TRAIL IN FORT WAYNE AND ALLEN COUNTY AND CREATED A TIMELINE SHARED WITH THE COMMUNITY ABOUT THE HISTORY OF TRAILS SINCE 1975. IN 2017, THERE WERE 560,000+ USES OF THE TRAIL SYSTEM AS RECORDED ON 14 INFRARED TRAIL COUNTERS. FWT DEVELOPED THE FIRST 5-YEAR PLAN FOR TRAIL DEVELOPMENT FOR ALLEN COUNTY WHICH RESULTED IN THE ALLEN COUNTY COMMISSIONERS DEDICATING 1M IN THEIR BUDGET FOR RURAL TRAIL DEVELOPMENT TO CONTINUE DEVELOPING THE PUFFERBELLY TRAIL FROM LIFE BRIDGE CHURCH TO SHOAFF RD AND UNION CHAPEL RD.
