“Conflict of interest gifts from customers: staff members have an obligation to maintain the highest standard of ethics. Specifically, each employee must: - immediately notify a member of the board of directors or executive director when aware of any improper or illegal activity that may directly or indirectly involve the company. - decline any gift offered in expectation of favorable treatment. - report any gift with a value of 100 or greater to the board president. - avoid any influence that might conflict with, or be thought to conflict with, the best interest of the iowa able. Outside employment: the company expressly prohibits employees from engaging in outside employment or work of any nature in any organization or firm that competes with or sells leases, or supplies goods or property (real or personal) or services to the iowa able. If an employee has questions about working for another employer, before accepting such employment the employee should submit a written request to the executive director for review and authorization. Business and community affairs: employees are encouraged to participate in professional, civic and community organizations and to promote our company in a positive manner not only when involved in one of these organizations but also within our iowa able. - participation in community activities must not adversely affect the employee's job performance, be detrimental to the company??s interests, or place the employee in the position of serving conflicting interests. - time spent on community affairs, when not undertaken at the request of management, should normally be outside of the employee's regular working hours and will not be considered hours of work for pay purposes. - when expressing opinions in a public forum employee have a responsibility to make clear whether the opinion is a personal one or one representing the iowa able. Any public communication (either in verbal or written formats) which might be considered as representing the company's position must be approved in advance by the company's senior management. Employees are not to discuss internal confidential matters in any public forum.”
