IRS990/Desc0In 2016 Nascent continued the implementation of its three-year McGovern-Dole Food for Education program, whose aims is to improve the literacy and health of school age children. This goal is achieved though activities such as teacher training, the provision of quality of literacy materials, increasing teacher and student attendance, increasing student enrollment, and improving the capacity of local and national government Institutions to support the initiated activities. Program achievements so far include the provision of a hot meal a day to over 20,000 school age children in 92 schools, he rehabilitation of the school infrastructure, establishment of school gardens, provision of water supply for school and ongoing trainings for teachers, school administrators and local government officials.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0Nascent was awarded the 2013 IFRP grant for Uganda in October 2013 to implement a 15 month program design to improve the nutritional health of 1390 food insecure families in the Kaberamaido and Serere districts of northern Uganda. The last consignment of donated program commodities sailed in 2015. The commodities were cleared and transported to the Uganda port of Entry in Mbale for final clearing by The Uganda Minister of Disaster Preparedness. The project staff in Uganda completed the sensitization of target communities and registration of beneficiaries in the target communities. The program successfully continued in 2015 and additional commodities were distributed. The program was successfully completed in 2016.
