Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
2013 PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS: *Held our annual meeting in Atlanta that brought together comic book retailers, vendors, and other suppliers to discuss the status of the comic book industry. *At our annual meeting, besides our usual programming, we recognized Cindy Fournier, From Diamond Comics, with our appreciation award. Cindy was vital in implementing Diamond's new warehouse and packing and shipping- providing the majority of the material for our member stores in a timely and efficient manner. We also recognized Will Eisner, the incomparable comic artist and entrepreneur, with our memorial award. *Shared information through a monthly member newsletter, a member website forum, and through Facebook to help both member stores and non-member stores succeed. *Worked with Industry Suppliers to make sure the retailer communitys concerns were acted upon. ComicsPRO has been instrumental in such initiatives as bringing about Day Early Delivery and getting return credits for retailers. (digital comics releasing early, 2D villains month). *Set up at San Diego Comicon, New York Comic Con, Long Beach Comic Con, and other smaller shows around the country. Talked to retailers and comic fans about the industry and organized educational seminars for retailers. *Worked with various suppliers to provide special deals to comic book retailers. The organization has set up a health insurance portal, discounted credit card processing rates, discounted customer outreach tools and web applications. We also have set up discounts from several distributors and manufacturers of popular product lines carried in comic book stores. *Distributed Free Comic Books, handbooks, articles, and newsletter donated by industry partners. *Supported Free Comic Book Day by helping member stores get the word out. ComicsPRO crafted over 800 individualized press releases. *Was the main logistical support for the world wide event - 24 Hour Comics Day. We registered each venue, advertised the event nationwide, hosted the website and blog. We also arranged free and discounted product for participating retailers. *Provided mentoring to prospective comic book store owners.$103,287-
