IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0Collaboration: Barbara Schneider Foundation continues to reach out to community partners and collaborate as a partner with agencies and organizations that support our mission and advocate for our perspective. In 2014, collaboration with other community partners included Suicide Awareness Voices of Education, Minnesota Recovery Connection, Mde Maka Ska, White Earth Nation, Rosebud Sioux Tribe, Bois Forte Band of Chippewa, Fairview Somali Mental Health Workgroup, Brian Coyle Center, Mental Health Legislative Network, CIT International, the Cultural Wellness Center, Backyard Initiative, MN Department of Human Services, Process for Peace, The Second Chance Coalition, Chief of Police roundtables in St. Paul and Minneapolis and mental health related agencies serving underserved populations. Participation in these collaborative efforts provide a way to help other professionals and community members see how mental illness impacts their work and the population they serve. It provides a venue for us to encourage collaboration among the systems and the professionals participating in these projects. And it provides us the opportunity to meet and work with new allies and individuals who share a commitment to the mission of the Barbara Schneider Foundation. 5,170 benefited.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Education: The Barbara Schneider Foundation education program includes the printing and distribution of 1, 500 copies of a brochure outlining training programs. We are continuing to produce and distribute, without charge, a series of videos in dvd format that tell the story of our work. The first in the series, an 11 minute training video, "Getting it Right", was produced in 2008 and is used in many of our trainings at conferences and in community presentations. We have distributed over 250 of those copies to agencies, higher education professionals and individuals, who use it in their work. It has also been broadcast on cable TV many times, and is posted on the home page of our website, where it can be easily viewed by anyone with internet access. We estimate that several thousand individuals have viewed it. In 2009 we unveiled a new 13 minute training video, "What's Our Problem?" which includes interviews with professionals from criminal justice and mental health as well as consumers discussing the need to increase collaboration among professionals in mental health and criminal justice to improve the response to individuals with severe mental illness. 175 copies of this video have been distributed to individuals, at conferences and to higher education professionals and organizations. This video is also posted on our website where it can be viewed free of charge, and is shown in most of our trainings. In 2010 we produced a third video, "To Give Back to the World," that tells the story of Barbara Schneider, an intelligent, active and vibrant woman whose life was cut short in a tragic 911 mental health crisis call when police, responding to a noise complaint, found themselves in a deadly force confrontation where she lost her life. This dvd is also posted on our home page. In 2013 we produced a video "Child and Adolescent Mental Health" that focuses on the ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) Study that demonstrates the clear link between untreated childhood trauma and a wide variety of negative outcomes in health, relationships, and success in life. We show this video in trainings on Child and Adolescent Mental Health and to community groups. In 2014 we produced and distributed the video, "Indigenizing CIT in Indian Country," which we use in our work in the Native community. In 2011 we produced and began distributing 1,000 copies of a dvd that describes our training offerings and philosophy. It is posted on the training page of our website, www.mentalhealthcrisis.org. Our two websites have become important resources for those interested in mental health crisis response issues, with continually updated content on our trainings, including online registration, articles related to mental health crisis, resources, and events. 8,000 benefited from this program.
