IRS990/MissionDesc0Highpoint Center for Printmaking, (HP) founded in 2001, has continued to offer accessible, print-focused educational programming in every aspect of its work. In 2022, activities fully returned to in-person with public events, school visits, and adult classes. In 2022, Highpoint hosted nine main gallery exhibitions and partnerships featuring artists of every skill level, from student shows to fellowship exhibitions, Stand Out Prints an international show, and For the Record, a collaboration with POCOAPOCO out of Oaxaca, Mexico, among others. 2022 was also a year of internal growth with the hiring of HP's new Executive Director Jehra Patrick, Communications and Development Manager, and Apprentice Printer, and the hiring process for the new Gallery Director and Administrative Coordinator who were interviewed in the fall of 2022, and formally hired in January 2023. Leadership, staff, and board changes have offered an opportunity to reevaluate internal structures, focus on staff well-being,

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0Artist Cooperative Program: HP provides 70+ printmakers (largest membership to date) with access to a professional, fully equipped print shop, where they create work and receive technical and creative support. The artist co-op is open every day of the year and artists have access 110 hours per week. Co-op artists have two main gallery exhibitions each year and a dedicated gallery space, the Threshold Gallery, for members to exhibit. 80% of print sales go directly to the artists. HP also offers teaching and working memberships, discounts, and programs to make the co-op fee more accessible. Since the founding of HP, co-op fees have never increased.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Highpoint Editions (HPE) is HP's fine art publishing program that supports local, national, and international artists through a visiting artist program. Artists can create original editions with the guidance and support of a Master Printer and skilled printing staff. Proceeds from sales of HPE projects are shared between the artist and HP, supporting both the artist's time, expertise, and investment. In 2022, HP partnered with two artists: Julie Mehretu to produce two screenprints and one new lithograph, the first of which was co-published with the Walker Art Center, and a series of 23 monoprints by Brad Kahlhamer, which were released and exhibited in fall 2022. In addition to producing artwork, Highpoint Editions was able to return in person to art fairs to share and exchange with the community at EXPO Chicago, Ink Miami, and the IFPDA in NY.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc0Artist Support Programs: Highpoint hosts a variety of programs aimed to support artists at every career stage. The Jerome Early Career Printmakers Program, the McKnight Printmakers Fellowship for mid-career artists, and the Full Color Print Fellowship for BIPOC artists. Each of these programs provides an artist stipend, unrestricted access to the artist co-op and facilities, professional opportunities and support, and exhibitions to showcase artwork created. In addition, Highpoint supports ten teens each year through the ACCESS/PRINT Teen Mentorship Program, who receive 70 hours of in-class mentorship and technical assistance and the ability to showcase their work in the annual student exhibition. In 2022, HP applied for the MSAB Creative Support grant and was recently awarded funds to create a BIPOC teaching program that will begin in 2023.
IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc1Highpoint art galleries are ADA accessible and open to the public Monday-Saturday. Visitors can view high-quality exhibitions of local, national, and international prints. Admission is always free. HP gallery has shown works by artists from Poland, Germany, Japan, Pakistan, Australia, Taiwan, England, Northern Ireland, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, Arctic Circle, Cuba, and Scotland among others. In 2022, HP exhibitions also included public artist talks and lectures with curator and artist William Villalongo, Brad Kahlhamer, Delita Martin, Chloe Alexander, and Tanekeya Word.
