“To establish the minneapolis warehouse district as the leading arts and entertainment neighborhood in minnesota. To encourage promotion of the real estate, retail, and services businesses by collaborating on spevial events, promotions and advertising campaigns.”
“Neighborhood and that it is a safe, vital, vibrant area with lots to do for everyone. In 2015 we continued to help plan and market events happening here, the neighborhood as a whole and the businesses located here. Some of these events included the nchc tournament, target field events, twing opening day promotion, north loop retailers, open streets, small business saturday, zombie pub crawl as well as the many events happening at individual businesses. 20% of admin in 2015 we worked closely with the downtown improvement district to ensure that businesses who contributed to the operation of the did were represented. Some of the involvement included participation on the budget and service operations committee responsible for establishing the budget for the did, various 2025 plan committees including dt experience and transportation, as well as safezone and cpted (crime prevention through environmental design) and the pedestrian pilot on first avenue north. 20% of admin after several high profile incidents throughout the year a lot of our efforts in 2015 were directed towards helping to reduce crime and increase personal safety and security. We held meetings, met with various city offices including the mayor and mpd, downtown council, mad dads, sherrif, etc. And participated on the chief's citizen's advisory council. 20% of admin we spent some time in 2015 working with the city on a proposed ordinance that would have a dramatic impact on all businesses located in minneapolis: the working families agenda (wfa) as well as the reconfiguration of first avenue, both are items that have a huge impact on the businesses located here. Through our efforts and other organizations we were able to postpone action on the wfa until 2016 in order to create a more palatable ordinance. First avenue will be reconfigured late 2016 after many years of work making it much more friendly for visitors and those unfamiliar the present configuration with the parking seemingly in the middle of the street. 20% of admin we continued to produce and distribute a quarterly newsletter to neighborhood businesses and those with interest in the neighborhood. Time was spent collecting items, creating the newsletter, updating distribution database, and distributing. 5% of admin in 2015 we worked on several other items all to benefit the neighborhood, make the neighborhood safer and drive traffic into the neighborhood and did what was necessary to keep the association running. 5% of admin”
