Brain Science Awareness Programs and Fundraising in Support of the American Academy of Neurology Institute's ("AANI") continuing medical education and sponsorship revenue. Brain Science Awareness Programs in 2011 included the following: The 2011 Neuro Film Festival generated 108 entries and more than 100,000 votes on YouTube in this annual contest to help raise awareness through video about brain disorders and the need to support research into preventions, treatments, and cures. Winning filmmakers receive a cash prize and trip to the AANI Annual Meeting where their work is featured. Submitted films are used to create public service announcements about brain disease and the need for cures. The first Brain Health Fair, sponsored by the Foundation, was held at the 2011 Annual Meeting in Honolulu. This free, daylong family event connected 2,000 patients, families, and caregivers affected by a neurologic disorder with important resources to win the battle against brain disease. People attended free classes to learn from some of the best and brightest neurologists in the world about the latest research advances in Alzheimer's, autism, brain injury, epilepsy, headache, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, sleep disorders, stroke, and other types of brain disease. The Exhibit Hall offered fun activities for kids and teens, and giveaways. The Corporate Roundtable represents the colloborative efforts of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), American Brain Foundation, and industry, to the end of bringing corporate sector efforts to support the American Brain Foundation's goals of improving quality of care and quality of life for people with neurological disease; promote research and public education in the neurosciences; and advance public understanding of disorders of the brain. The Foundation also provides staff support for AANI's fundraising in favor of that organization's continuing medical education and annual meeting.
