Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 4

Because of its success growing the reach of cbe's website, cbe made its online celebration of 30 years of cbe ministry permanent. "the year of jubilee" grew the reach of cbe's website and our individual membership class was discontinued. Cbe bylaws were amended by the directors at their august 2018 board meeting: article ii, section 2.1 classes. Decrease the number of membership classes in the corporation from three to two and remove "individual members" article ii, section 2.3 individual members. Remove section in its entirety. (church/institution members will continue.) article iii, section 3.2b. Qualifications. Remove board of director requirement to "be an individual member". Other changes: other minor changes were made to remove reverences to individual members, including article ii section 2.1 classes there shall be two classes of membership in the corporation, namely chapter members and church/institution members. Classes of membership may be added or discontinued by an affirmative vote of a majority of the board of directors.(amended: added three <classes> and <church/institution members> added <classes...directors>; june 2001. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6

The organization has members, but the members are all nonvoting.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

The board of directors receives the completed 990 by email before it is filed. The board of directors meets twice annually in person, in march and october, and once by phone in august. The organization's president/ceo reviews and signs the form 990, and the organization's treasurer reviews form 990 and discusses it with the preparer, privately, after it is filed. The treasurer brings information from their private discussion with the preparer to the board meeting in october when the 990 and preparer's findings are discussed with and approved by the audit committee and full board.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Annually, all officers and directors disclose interests that could give rise to conflicts using form 402.1 in board manual. All employees review conflict of interest policy during annual performance review. All employee conflicts of interest noted during employee annual reviews are disclosed by ceo at annual board meetings.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15A

Cbe's president/ceo undergoes a yearly performance review via an independent review by cbe's chair. This process is outlined in cbe's board manual section 208. The board chair discusses their findings with the full board at the march board meeting and any salary adjustments are determined at this time. The board holds executive sessions without the ceo each board meeting as a policy.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

The conflict of interest policy, governing documents, and financial statements are available upon request.

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part III, Line 1

Christians for biblical equality (cbe), www.cbeinternational.org, is a 501c3 nonprofit organization comprised of individuals, churches, colleges, seminaries, and organizations, representing more than 100 different denominations in 65 countries. Cbe advances the biblical foundation for the equal dignity, authority, and leadership of males and females in church, home, and society. Cbe's events, publications, website, bookstore, local chapters, and partnerships educate global communities on the bible's call for all christians, male and female, to develop and exercise their god-given gifts for leadership with equal authority and responsibility and with the full support of their faith communities. Research shows that when a culture equally values and extends equal authority and opportunities to males and females, these communities experience lower incidents of female abuse and are more economically viable.

Form 990, Part III, Line 3

Because of its success growing the reach of cbe's website, cbe made its online celebration of 30 years of cbe ministry permanent. "the year of jubilee" grew the reach of cbe's website and our individual membership class was discontinued. Everyone, worldwide, will have access to cbe's most timely content, with all digital volumes of priscilla papers and mutuality offered free on our website.

Form 990, Part XII, Line 2C

The organization's audit committee, comprised of the board's executive committee, reviews the financial statements. The audit committee is also responsible for selecting the independent auditor at the october board meeting. This process is outlined in the board manual section 601.1.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization is exempt from federal and state income taxes as organizations described under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and section 290.05 of the minnesota statute. The organization's open audit periods are the years ended december 31, 2014 through march 31, 2018. The organization has adopted the recognition requirements for uncertain income tax positions as required by generally accepted accounting principles, with no cumulative effect adjustment required. Income tax benefits are recognized for income tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return, only when it is determined that the income tax position will more-likely-than-not be sustained upon examination by taxing authorities. The organization has analyzed tax positions taken for filing with the internal revenue service and all state jurisdictions where it operates. The organization believes that income tax filing positions will be sustained upon examination and does not anticipate any adjustments that would result in a material adverse affect on the organization's financial condition, results of operations or cash flows. Accordingly, the organization has not recorded any reserves, or related accruals for interest and penalties for uncertain income tax positions at march 31, 2018. The organization is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress. The organization believes it is no longer subject to income tax examinations for tax return years prior to the year ended december 31, 2014. The organization's policy is to classify any income tax related interest and penalties in interest expense and other expenses, respectively.
