“The Executive Committee is made up of JAUM Board Officers and Vice Chairs of JAUM committee. The Executive Committee may act for the JAUM Board of Directors.”
“THE FORM 990 IS PROVIDED TO THE FINANCE COMMITTEE FOR REVIEW. AFTER THE FINANCE COMMITTEE REVIEWS THE FORM 990, THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE WILL THEN PROCEED WITH THEIR REVIEW PROCESS AND APPROVE THE RETURN FOR THE BOARD. The Board is provided the Form 990 for review before filing.”

“Junior Achievement USA, Inc. (JAUSA) and Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest, Inc. (JAUM) utilize a pay structure designed by a company called Equi-Comp. Equi-Comp pay ranges are benchmarked against the external labor market and are a source of comparable compensation data. EACH YEAR, JAUM'S BOARD CHAIR RECEIVES THE EQUI-COMP INFORMATION from JAUSA THAT BENCHMARKS THE PRESIDENT'S POSITION AND ESTABLISHES A MARKET-BASED COMPENSATION RANGE. THE BOARD CHAIR, past-Chair and incoming chair, to ensure continuity in process, REVIEWS THIS DATA AND THE ORGANIZATION'S PERFORMANCE METRICS, AND IN CONSULTATION WITH THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE, DETERMINES THE ANNUAL SALARY OF THE PRESIDENT. THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE APPROVES THE FINAL COMPENSATION PACKAGE FOR THE PRESIDENT. FOR ALL OTHER POSITIONS, JAUM USES EQUI-COMP DATA PROVIDED BY JAUSA, LOCAL BENCHMARK DATA AND EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE INFORMATION TO DETERMINE COMPENSATION. For these positions, Compensation IS DETERMINED AND APPROVED BY THE JAUM PRESIDENT IN CONSULTATION WITH THE SENIOR LEADERSHIP TEAM.”
“We provide this information on a request basis. Audited financial statements are available on our website.”
“The oversight and selection process for the audit of the financial statements did not change from the prior year.”
“The endowment funds are held in the Junior Achievement Foundation of the Upper Midwest (Foundation), a related organization organized to support the missions and operations of Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest. The Endowment Fund represents gifts donated to the foundation with the stipulation that the principal be maintained intact in perpetuity and that the investment income is to be used to carry out the purposes of Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest.”
“The Organization follows the accounting standards for contingencies in evaluating uncertain tax positions. This guidance prescribes recognition threshold principles for the financial statement recognition of tax positions taken or expected to be taken on a tax return that are not certain to be realized. No liability has been recognized by the Organization for uncertain tax positions as of June 30, 2017 or 2016. The Organization's tax returns are subject to review and examination by federal and state authorities.”
