Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11

A copy of the irs form 990 is presented to the board of directors for approval prior to filing.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Each year the policy is reviewed and the board members are required to complete the conflict of interest form.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

The personnel committee reviews, during the budget process, the salaries of all positions compared to the mn nonprofit salary and benefits survey. The committee makes a recommendation for salary increases to the full board. Due to the economic times a 1.0% salary increase was approved, which was well below the average.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

The agency has an annual return and the independent audit available on the website. Also, the state of minnesota attorney general's office receives a copy of the audit and the public may access the information through the state site. Finally, a copy of the return is available at www.guidestar.org.

Financial Statement Notes

PART V, LINE 4:

The purpose of the fund held by the central minnesota community foundation is to generate income and capital appreciation for the financial support of the organization.

PART X, LINE 2:

The task force follows fasb asc topic 740, uncertainty in income taxes. The task force is recognized by the internal revenue service as a not-for-profit organization under irs code section 501(c)(3). Due to the not-for-profit nature and provision of the organization, all income and expenses attributable to the mission of the organization are tax exempt and accordingly no provision or liability for income taxes have been made in the financial statements and contributions to the organization are tax deductible to donors as allowed by irs regulations. However, the organization is required to pay state and federal income taxes on unrelated business income. If the organization were to engage in any activities that resulted in unrelated business income, a tax would be assessed on that activity. The task force is open and subject to examination generally for three years after filing.

PART XI, LINE 4B - OTHER ADJUSTMENTS:

Loss on sale of asset -687.

PART XII, LINE 2D - OTHER ADJUSTMENTS:

Loss on sale of asset 687.
