Activity 2

Academic Support and Student Services - Augsburg College is committed to providing educational access for a diverse community of students as well as the support services they need to succeed in academics, financial aid, and residential life, including for students with learning and physical disabilities and in recovery. More than 50 student organizations offer a wide variety of interests. Centers of excellence on campus offer programs in vocation and spirituality, career preparation and placement, service-learning and community service, and study and travel abroad. Nearly 24% of students participate in the 18 varsity sports and more than 8 intramural activities on campus.As the only Lutheran college located in the heart of an urban area, Augsburg students have extraordinary opportunities for internships, research, performance and exhibit, and service-learning. The College was listed by The Chronicle of Higher Education as one of the top producers of Fulbright scholars. Augsburg is also ranked by Washington Monthly in their top 100 schools that contribute to the public good and is noted by Sierra magazine as one of the "cool schools" for its commitment to sustainability and a green campus. All of the electricity used on the main campus is generated by wind power.

Activity 3

Auxiliary services - Augsburg College's Residential Life program seeks to develop residents who are both students and neighbors in an urban collegiate setting while being grounded in liberal arts, intentional diversity, and faith. The College has five residence halls and three dining venues. During 2009-10, Augsburg was home to 1,198 students (29%), with 852 students participating in the resident student meal plans. A'viands Dining Service strives to provide a wide variety of meals that meets nutritional and cultural requirements and educates students about food, nutrition, and sustainable food practices. A campus bookstore serves students, faculty, staff, and the general public, offering a variety of fair trade goods.
