Mission

Centergy's mission is to serve as the engine for regional growth and economic development through collaboration with local partners. Centergy's vision is to be the Collective Voice for advancing prosperity and vibrancy for our five-county region by making Central Wisconsin a community of choice for businesses and residences.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Community development initiatives - coordinated efforts to bring renowned author and community engagement leader peter kageyama to merrill & wausau. Wrote grants to support funding. Outcomes: merrill funding approved; assisted with event facilitation. Community workshops held; initiatives developed. - participated in discussions with the city of merrill to finalize wal-mart development plans that were not well received in the community. Outcome: issues resolved; development proceeding. Infrastructure strategies - expanded efforts to maintain and grow the physical infrastructure in central wisconsin.- participated in the completion & marketing efforts of hwy 10 from stevens point to marshfield.- advocated for expansion of rail services into central wi in collaboration with wisconsin manufacturer council in madison.- worked with the public service commission to develop a plan to bring broadband service to underserved areas of the region. Hosted 2 planning sessions to determine an action plan. Government relations strategies - coordinated annual central wisconsin days to promote regionally significant projects that need state and/or federal support and advocate for government support that advances both the state's and centergy's plan of action. - coordinated meetings with local municipal leaders to discuss centergy's initiatives and to encourage intergovernmental cooperation.- coordinated monthly meetings with county economic development professionals in the region to encourage cooperation and collaboration. - hosted a regional summit to bring business and government leadership together to discuss issues facing the central wi economy.

Workforce development initiatives - coordinated higher education initiative discussions to reduce redundancy and to support curriculum development that benefits entire region.
