“Wecare is a new non-profit organization dedicated to addressing a critical issue that impacts every one of us: the growing mass exodus of our healthcare workers, locally, regionally and nationally. The number of professionals leaving the field has reached unprecedented levels, posing a threat to the future of our healthcare system. For example, 800,000 registered nurses plan to leave the workforce by 2027. (the national council of state boards of nursing and the national forum of state nursing workforce centers 2023). Nurses report ptsd, burnout, and compassion fatigue are at an all time high among nursing professionals and 62% of nurses are experiencing a high degree of burnout. "i have experienced burnout in my nursing career many times over, and tragically, i lost a close colleague suffering from burnout to suicide very early on in my career. Sadly, since this first experience with the devastating impact burnout can have on healthcare professionals, i have now lost multiple healthcare colleagues to burnout, and unprocessed trauma and compartmentalized grief. This problem creates a ripple effect that will eventually impact everyone, and needs to be pulled out from under the rug. How can we help our patients stay alive and well if we can't even provide this for our own healthcare professionals?" christa rymal, founder and ceo. At wecare, we believe our healthcare heroes deserve better. That is why we have four different programs under our organization, all services and programs thoughtfully designed to provide daily appreciation, selfcare wellbeing practices, time to process secondary trauma, and reduce the moral injury currently being experienced by our healthcare workers. Wecare's resources help healthcare professionals navigate the physical and emotional challenges of their demanding work. We do this by offering continuing medical education (cme) wellness boxes, self-care cme conferences, immersive cme wellbeing retreats, holistic healing services, and professional membership opportunities. N 2024: wecare held a single-day conference offering a whole-person wellbeing for an all-inclusive day with morning & afternoon workshops, lunch, vendor booths, and giveaways. Wecare held retreats with a wellbeing experience grounded in nutrition, movement, sleep and restoration. Wecare provided subscription boxes with high quality wellbeing products paired with exper led cme education.”
