“Organizations primary exempt purpose:PCIC Inc. dba Southern Arizona Interfaith (SAI) is a non-profit, non-partisan 501c3 educational interfaith organization created to expand broad-based institutional organizing throughout Southern Arizona. It identifies and trains leaders within institutions to develop the power and expertise necessary to advocate effectively with and for low-income residents in Cochise, Pima and Santa Cruz Counties. Part III Exempt Purpose Achievements:Training of over 400 leaders in institutionsNew members became involved including the School Sisters of Notre Dame in DouglasNew allies became involved including Frontera de Cristo of Douglas, the Chiricahua Community Health Center, Inc. of Douglas and Santa Monica Catholic Church of TucsonESOL, GED and Citizenship classes were sponsored and the economy has been researched. Research and planning for low-income senior housing was done in the Green Valley/Sahuarita area. A community resource guide for seniors was produced and posted on-line in Benson. Food security education and outreach took place at the Douglas Food Bank. Organizing teams met regularly in Douglas, Benson and Green Valley/Sahuarita, and Nogales/Rio Rico. A group of pastors began meeting in Sierra Vista.The dues base was enlarged and grants from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development and The Needmor Fund, were obtained.Training contracts were completed with the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona and the Pima County Interfaith Civic Education OrganizationMeetings on immigration reform and the economy with held with Congressional Reps. McSally and Grijalva as well as faith and business leaders from Southern Arizona. A three-day training session in Spanish was held at Our Lady of Fatima Parish Hall in Tucson. Over 70 leaders attended this training.Training was provided in the areas of building a broad-base organization, board development, research actions, fundraising, power analysis, relational meetings, house meetings and understanding pressures on families.”
