Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The Berner-Garde Foundation was established to assist in efforts to improve the health of Bernese Mountain Dogs. The BGF is comprised of a voluntary Board of Trustees and other workers. Our efforts are designed to support scientific research into the causes and cures for genetic diseases and general health of our beloved Berners.

The Foundation is dedicated to improving the health and longevity of the Bernese Mountain Dog. DNA, blood and tissue samples are collected and stored at Michigan State University for use by researchers for specific research projects approved by the Board of Directors.
