Start: start (safe therapeutic assault response team) provides around the clock medical attention, a forensic exam, and emotional support to victims of sexual assault in a safe and positive environment. For cases referred for prosecution, sexual assault nurse examiners provide expert testimony and advocates give victims support during court proceedings. Prevention education: trained educators work with young people, and their teachers and parents, to equip them with the tools to make better choices, to build relationships based on mutual respect, and to understand what consent means. Educators also provide professional training to health care providers, law enforcement, clergy, and members of the public on the dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault, and the root causes of these issues.
