“The main activity of the michigan world language association is to provide its members with resources and professional development to enhance their teaching of world languages in elementary, secondary and post-secondary educational institutions in the state of michigan.”

“Annual conference - held november 9-11, 2016 in lansing michigan. There were appoximately 90 seminars & 9 workshops for the 542 attendees to chose from. Winter workshop was held in march in ann arbor. 65 members attended 1 workshop. Summer workshop was held in june in saginaw. 15 members attended one 2 day seminar.”

“Twice a year, normally in the spring and summer, miwla publishes a newsletter to all of its membership. These publications include information about the state of world language education across the state and country, articles about current teaching methods and techniques, reports from executive board members,information about upcoming world language and miwla events and other information relevant to world language education.”

“At the annual conference, in order to help the new teachers and student teachers attend the conference, 31 mini-grants ranging from 85 - 375 each are granted. These grants are given to selected student teachers and/or teachers whose teaching experience is less than five years.”
