Mission

To provide counseling and intervention and treatment services for at risk and delinquent youth and their families in wayne and adjacent counties.

Growth works mission is to restore hope, promote change and improve lives for those in wayne and adjacent counties. These key ideals are accomplished through consistent service delivery with emphasis towards greater family stability, adult treatment resources for those experiencing substance use disorders and dependency, and community-based opportunities for assigned youth. Growth works provides these resources while also establishing constructive relationships with schools, public officials, public safety and other non-profit organizations.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Income tax uncertainties - management evaluates, at least annually, whether any tax positions reported on tax returns are more likely than not to be sustained if challenged. Management believes no such positions exist that would have significant impact on the organization's financial position and results of operations. As of september 31, 2018 no liability for uncertain tax benefits was recorded. The organization's tax returns are subject to possible examination by the taxing authorities. For federal income tax purposes the tax returns essentially remain open for possible examination for a period up to four years after the date on which those returns are filed. Penalties and interest assessed by income taxing authorities are included in operating expenses, if incurred.

YOUTH ASSIGNED TO WWCMO HAVE BEEN CHARGED WITH AN OFFENSE BY THE LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT AND FOUND DELINQUENT BY THE JUVENILE SECTION, FAMILY DIVISION OF THE THIRD CIRCUIT COURT.WWCMO'S FUNCTION IS TO PLAN AND SUPERVISE THE YOUTH'S REHABILITATION AND ASSURE COMMUNITY SAFETY. THE FOCUS IS ON ASSISTING YOUTH IN BECOMING ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS, REMAINING CRIME FREE AND OBTAINING THE NEEDED BASIC SKILLS FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS. YOUTH REMAIN UNDER WARDSHIP UNTIL THE COURT RELEASES THEM, AFTER THEIR REHABILITATION IS COMPLETED.WWCMO FUNDING IS PROVIDED BY THE COUNTY OF WAYNE AND THROUGH THE STATE OF MICHIGAN'S CHILD CARE FUND. IN 2018, WWCMO SERVED AN AVERAGE OF 158 JUVENILES ON A DAILY BASIS AND 288 SEPARATE YOUTH OVER THE ENTIRE YEAR. DURING FY 2018, THE RATE OF YOUTH WHO REOFFENDED WHILE STILL ENROLLED WAS 1%. FOLLOW UP REPORTING AT TWO YEARS POST TERMINATION SHOWS THAT OF 99 YOUTH WHO COMPLETED DURING 2016, 91(90.9%) HAVE NOT COMMITTED ANOTHER FELONY OFFENSE. THE OVERALL RATE SINCE 2000 IS OVER 90%.

IN ADDITION, 545 ADULT CLIENTS PARTICIPATED IN OUTPATIENT SUD TREATMENT AND RELAPSE PREVENTION TREATMENT. OUTCOME MEASURES FOR CITX PROGRAMS ARE CONSISTENT WITH PRIOR YEARS. IN ADDITION, GWI PROVIDES THE SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT COMPONENT OF THE RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS FOR ADOLESCENTS ON WOLVERINE'S VASSAR CAMPUS AND AS PART OF WASHTENAW COUNTY'S CHILDREN'S SERVICES DEPARTMENT.DURING FISCAL YEAR 2018, 105 ADOLESCENTS RECEIVED RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT SERVICES AND FAMILY PROGRAMMING. IN ADDITION, FAMILY MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN INTERVENTION AND FAMILY WEEK PROGRAMS. OUTCOME MEASURES REPORTED FOR 2018 INCLUDE: 75% OF YOUTH RETURNING TO THE COMMUNITY AFTER RESIDENTIAL SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT HAVE REMAINED DRUG AND ALCOHOL FREE WHILE IN AFTERCARE.

INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM WITH DOMICILE (IOP-D) PROVIDES SUBSTANCE ABUSE DISORDER TREATMENT TO ADULTS FOR APPROXIMATELY EIGHT WEEKS AND PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR INDIVIDUALS RECENTLY COMPLETING INPATIENT OR LONG TERM RESIDENTIAL CARE TO ESTABLISH RECOVERY SUPPORT, HOUSING AND EMPLOYMENT IN THE COMMUNITY WHILE CONTINUING TREATMENT. IN 2018, 107 CLIENTS RECEIVED SERVICES THROUGH IOP-D. APPROXIMATELY 45% OF THE CLIENTS DISCHARGED, SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE LEVEL OF CARE, WHILE 29% VOLUNTARILY WITHDREW FROM CARE AND 15% WERE REFERRED TO OTHER SERVICES.
