Financial Statement Notes

Schedule D, Page 3, Part X

Income tax uncertainties - management evaluates, at least annually, whether any tax positions reported on tax returns are more likely than not to be sustained if challenged. Management believes no such positions exist that would have significant impact on the organization's financial position and results of operations. As of december 31, 2013, no liability for uncertain tax benefits was recorded. The organization's tax returns are subject to possible examination by the taxing authorities. For federal income tax purposes the tax returns essentially remain open for possible examination for a period up to four years after the date on which those returns are filed. Penalties and interest assessed by income taxing authorities are included in operating expenses, if incurred.

IRS990/Desc0THE WESTERN WAYNE CARE MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION (WWCMO) PROVIDES CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES FOR ADJUDICATED YOUTH FROM SEVENTEEN COMMUNITIES IN WESTERN WAYNE COUNTY. YOUTH ASSIGNED TO WWCMO HAVE BEEN CHARGED WITH AN OFFENSE BY THE LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT AND FOUND DELINQUENT BY THE JUVENILE SECTION, FAMILY DIVISION OF THE THIRD CIRCUIT COURT. WWCMO'S FUNCTION IS TO PLAN AND SUPERVISE THE YOUTH'S DELINQUENCY REHABILITATION AND ASSURE COMMUNITY SAFETY. THE GOALS INCLUDE ASSISTING YOUTH IN BECOMING ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS, REMAINING CRIME FREE AND OBTAINING THE NEEDED BASIC SKILLS TO FULFILL THEIR AMBITIONS. YOUTH REMAIN UNDER WARDSHIP UNTIL THE COURT RELEASES THEM, AFTER THEIR REHABILITATION IS ASSURED. WWCMO FUNDING IS PROVIDED BY THE COUNTY OF WAYNE AND THROUGH THE STATE OF MICHIGAN'S CHILD CARE FUND. IN 2013, WWCMO SERVED AN AVERAGE OF 167 JUVENILES ON A DAILY BASIS AND 381 SEPARATE YOUTH OVER THE ENTIRE YEAR. AT ANY ONE TIME, APPROXIMATELY 47% OF ENROLLED JUVENILES RECEIVE SERVICES IN THE COMMUNITY AND 53% ARE PLACED IN A RESIDENTIAL SETTING. DURING FY 2013, THE RATE OF YOUTH WHO REOFFENDED WHILE STILL ENROLLED WAS LESS THAN 1%. FOLLOW UP REPORTING AT TWO YEARS POST TERMINATION SHOWS THAT OF 115 YOUTH WHO COMPLETED DURING 2011, 107 (93%) HAVE NOT COMMITTED ANOTHER OFFENSE. THE OVERALL RATE SINCE 2000 IS 90%.
