We believe the children and their families in our care deserve the chance to heal by being valued in a safe environment by competent, caring professionals. Camp oakland is a private, nonprofit treatment agency that serves at-risk children and youth. Over 300 children are served annually in our integrated educational and vocational core programs. We utilize a proven therapeutic model combining choice theory and adventure based experiential learning techniques built on a foundation of trauma-informed care. We empower youth so that they can learn how to evaluate their own behavior and actions in order to make thoughtful decisions in their lives, while also facilitating emotional and psychological healing. Our beautiful 160-acre, wooded main campus provides an ideal environment from which to offer a wide variety of programming. It is amazing what kids discover about themselves when they are given the opportunity to disconnect from technology.
Our Mission: Believing all youth are at risk, Crossroads for Youth strengthens families and youth with skills and tools so they become valued contributors in their communities.

“A copy of the draft form 990 is presented to the president and controller who forward it to the governing board for review and approval.”
“If a director, officer or employee knows or reasonably believes that he or she has such a conflict of interest, that person refrains from participating in any way in the matter to which the conflict relates unless and until the conflict is promptly and fully disclosed to an officer of the corporation and the matter is approved by the board of directors because the good, service or other item which is the subject of one or more transactions producing the material gain or conflict is not available elsewhere. The secretary, or his or her designee, distributes this policy annually to all directors, officers, and employees of the corporation.”
“The process for ceo evaluation and compensation is the same as for the agency. The board chair leads the process, the board executive committee reviews the evaluation and then reports on the evaluation to the board as well as making any recommendations for compensation increase. The board votes and approves any changes.”
“Financial statements available online, all other documents available upon request.”
“A copy of the draft audited financial statements is presented to the president and controller who forward it to the governing board for review and approval.”
“Uncertain Tax Positions - Management evaluates, at least annually, whether any tax positions reported on a tax return are more likely than not to be sustained if challenged. Management believes no such positions exist that would have significant impact on the Organization's financial position and results of operations. As of June 30, 2016 and 2015, no liability for unrecognized tax benefit was required to be recorded.”

| IRS990/Desc | 0 | Residential Programs:These programs use individual, family and group problem-solving techniques as a foundation for their therapeutic approaches. Individual treatment plans reflect both short-term goals to address immediate behaviors of concern and long-term goals to increase the probability of success upon release. Parents are asked to work in conjunction with the treatment team in the process of incorporating appropriate skill development, counseling and discipline so that the residents experience consistency and a sense of Teamwork. Additional opportunities for students include attendance at cultural and sporting events, participation in activities through the Adventure Center and the possibility for employment in jobs, both on campus and off grounds in the local community. The direct program staff includes treatment specialists, therapists and site supervisors. Every student attends an on-site school. Some students also have the opportunity to attend the local public school. The usual length of stay is five to twelve months. |
