The executive director and/or treasurer prepares the return in coordination with the foundations accounting firm or tax preparer. Once the draft form 990 is completed, it is distributed to all board members via email for their review and comments. Board members are given the opportunity to ask questions, request clarifications, and discuss any items contained in the return before it is finalized and submitted to the irs.
