Line 1b denotes 3 "independent Board members" in acknowledgement BOTH of the organization's landlord-renter relationship with Resilient Northern Habitats, an LLC owned by Kari Wenger and Peter Henry, and with respect to amounts for outstanding rent as well as amounts due to be reimbursed for supplies purchased for organization by said LLC (or by Wenger or Henry) at yearend (all due with -0-% interest) per disclosure reported on Schedule L, Part II. (Note: amounts paid or incurred in year for rents to Resilient Northern Habitats totaled $9,000, which is below the Schedule L, Part IV reporting threshold, but same is subsumed in loan amount shown on Schedule L, Part II which would moot Part IV disclosure in any case.)

IRS990/Desc0In this first year of the organization's undertaking of programmatic operations, the organization occupied approximately half of the "Farm Table" building, specifically an exhibition space and a training kitchen and classroom which are situated together in the northern half of the building (and are fully visible to street traffic given full length windows fronting the space). Various presentations and classes were provided (see description of latter, at line 4b). Will Allen of the 501(c)(3)-public charity Growing Power presented for over an hour to those attending a special harvest dinner on the state of local food and urban food production in the United States. Throughout the tax year, the organization hosted three local artists' exhibitions, all of which were open to the public during the building's normal business hours in its exhibition space. Each exhibitor was in attendance on an opening night reception and provided a small program, themed by its connection to local ecosystems, agriculture, or sustainable practices (each exhibition was up for 2 to 3 months). For the last three months of the year, the organization's Executive Director/Program Director position was open, slowing the development and presentation of additional programming. Five classes/seminars occurred (Brick Oven Workshop, Wooden Spoon Carving, Beauty of Natural Dyes, Sense of Place Workshop, and Wholesale Success Workshop) at the organization's new training center space. All classes had a minimum of five attendees and the Wholesale Success Workshop, co-sponsored by the Polk and St. Croix Counties' Extension offices had 40 (that workshop was taught by a well-known local farm consultant with expertise in food safety and participants, all of whom were local farmers, received a manual tracking the curriculum.) Regular "Lunch and Learns," with attendees coming on a walk-in basis, were held in the Hungry Turtle Teaching Kitchen (these showed class participants how to make a particular aspect of a lunch menu). In addition, in August of 2015, a Women and Families Program of the St. Croix United Way was hosted, providing women and children an on-site opportunity to learn about healthy cooking and meal preparation (younger children were provided day-care services to enable mothers and older children to participate). Expenses shown are those for the costs of those providing outside services, or program instruction in these programs or in educational components of work in 4a.
