IT HAS ACTIVE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND PROGRAM PARTICIPATION THROUGH MEMBERS AND FREE SUBSCRIBERS. IT HAS OPEN AND TRANSPARENT OPERATIONS OFFERING MANY FREE RESOURCES TO HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ABOUT STRESS SCIENCES AND STRESS MANAGEMENT. AIS MEETS THE CRITERIA THAT: OVER 10% OF IT'S SUPPORT COMES FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC. AIS PROVIDES FREE SERVICES DIRECTLY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC ON AN ON-GOING BASIS. AIS IS CONTINUING TO ATTRACT NEW AND GROWING SUPPORT ON A CONTINUOUS BASIS BY MAINTAINING PROGRAMS TO SOLICIT FUNDS FROM THE PUBLIC AND BY ENGAGING IN ACTIVITIES THAT WILL CONTINUE TO GARNER SUPPORT FROM HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC AS THE ECONOMY IMPROVES. INDIVIDUAL DUES ARE AFFORDABLE, OR FREE, TO A BROAD CROSS SECTION OF THE INTERESTED PUBLIC. THE ORGANIZATION'S ACTIVITIES HAVE A UNIVERSAL APPEAL TO PEOPLE UNITED IN HAVING THE COMMON INTEREST OR PURPOSE TO UNDERSTAND AND MANAGE THEIR STRESS.AT THIS TIME MOST OF THE SUPPORT COMES FROM THE KIRSCH FAMILY, BUT EFFORTS ARE UNDERWAY TO HELP RAISE MORE MONEY FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THE ORGANIZATION AIMS TO ENROLL AS MEMBERS A SUBSTANTIAL NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVING AN INTEREST IN LEARNING ABOUT STRESS. IN MANY CASES, SUCH KNOWLEDGE CAN SAVE VAST EXPENSES IN TAXPAYER SUPPORTED HEALTHCARE COSTS RELATING TO STRESS-RELATED DISORDERS AND EVEN SAVE LIVES.AIS HAS PRODUCED A CASE STATEMENT BROCHURE TITLED, THE COST OF STRESS, TO HELP WITH FUNDRAISING (AVAILABLE IN THE DONOR'S SECTION OF STRESS.ORG). THAT WAS THE RESULT OF A ONE-YEAR CONTRACT WITH HARTSOOK, A FIRM SPECIALIZING IN HELPING NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS RAISE MONEY. AFTER WASTING A YEAR AND A LOT OF MONEY ON HARTSOOK, THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS WERE NOT VIABLE PRIMARILY TO ASK FAMILY AND FRIENDS FOR MONEY. OTHER ACTIVITIES AIS HAS DONE RECENTLY TO INCREASE DONOR PARTICIPATION: PREVIOUSLY AIS HAD BUILT AUTOMATED FUNCTIONS INTO IT'S WEBSITE TO MAINTAIN MEMBERSHIP INCLUDING FREE MAGAZINE SUBSCRIBERS. RECENTLY, IN 2024 IT CHANGED THE DATABASE TO A CUSTOMER RESOURCES MANAGER SYSTEM CALLED NETWORK FOR GOOD DEVELOPED SPECIFICALLY FOR NONPROFITS TO HELP WITH FUND RAISING. AIS REVAMPED IT'S WEBSITE, STRESS.ORG, TO MAKE NAVIGATION EASIER AND FOCUS MORE ON FUND RAISING THROUGH DONATIONS. AIS HIRED A DONORS RELATIONS MANAGER TO DEVELOP RELATIONSHIPS WITH INDIVIDUALS AND CORPORATIONS TO ENTICE THEM TO DONATE TO AIS. AIS WAS AWARDED A $10,000/MONTH GOOGLE ADWORDS GRANT TO MARKET IT'S OFFERINGS AND HIRED JO AGENCY, A FORT WORTH MARKETING FIRM SPECIALIZING IN HELPING NONPROFITS BUILD ADS TO MANAGE THE GRANT. STRESS IS SO DEEPLY WOVEN INTO OUR DAILY LIVES AND VOCABULARY THAT IT'S EASY TO FORGET HOW RECENTLY THE TERM TOOK ON ITS MODERN MEANING. IT WASN'T UNTIL 1936 THAT STRESS, AS WE UNDERSTAND IT TODAY, WAS COINED BY OUR FOUNDER, PROFESSOR HANS SELYE, MD, PHD. IN A GROUNDBREAKING PAPER PUBLISHED IN NATURE, SELYE INTRODUCED THE CONCEPT OF THE GENERAL ADAPTATION SYNDROME (GAS), DESCRIBING THE PHYSIOLOGICAL RESPONSES OF RATS TO VARIOUS STRESSORSPAVING THE WAY FOR DECADES OF RESEARCH INTO HUMAN STRESS CULMINATING IN 1,700 SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS AND 40 BOOKS BY SELYE ALONE.
