Basic needs assistance: utility assistance for households; gasoline assistance for individuals; prescription assistance for individuals; rent assistance for households; other help for individuals. In the calendar year 2014, piqua compassion network provided 20,711 in direct benefits to clients. This is a 59% increase over 2013. This increased giving results from adding two full courses to our getting ahead sequence; more than doubling our programming. Additionally, over 4,000 of the 2014 increase was within the basic crisis assistance program of piqua compassion network. This increase was a result of working together with local companies to keep several of their low wage earning employees at work by resolving life impediments. We also experienced an increase in utility assistance as a result of the altered city utility costs.
