Financial Statement Notes

Part X, Line 2:

The Organization is exempt from income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and Minnesota Statute 290.05. Because the Organization is a public charity, contributions to it may be deductible for tax purposes. Management believes that it is not reasonably possible for any tax position benefits to increase or decrease significantly over the next 12 months. As of December 31, 2015, there were no income tax related accrued interest or penalties recognized in either the statement of financial position or the statement of activities. The Organization files informational returns in the U.S. federal jurisdiction, and in the Minnesota state jurisdiction. U.S. federal returns and Minnesota returns for the prior three fiscal years are open for examination. No returns are currently under examination in any tax jurisdiction.

IRS990/Desc0Haiti Teen Challenge (HTC) was formed in 2010 as a Minnesota Faith based non-profit and tax exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The HTC program launched in February 2011 in Port au Prince, Haiti. Haiti Teen Challenge is an urban ministry that identifies "high potential" young men and women, ages 16 to 24 years of age, who have a heart for change, as well as basic literacy. Student referral is via local churches, other non-government organizations, prisons, and community connections. Students are chosen from "targeted" communities so that upon completion of the HTC Program students return together to their neighborhoods. This increases accountability, community restoration and long-term sustainability. The mission of the program is to "build godly leaders of integrity in targeted communities so that Haitians are empowered to rebuild their nation." HTC is Transforming and Equipping young men and women to become leaders of integrity, good stewards of their resources, and though active engagement with local businesses, partners and churches Mobilizing them to serve their families, communities and nation.
