Effingham County Humane Society

“For a twenty dollar annual membership fee anyone can join the effingham county humane society. Members then have the opportunity to vote and elect members who meet the qualifications of being a director (residency in effingham county and memberhip for at least six months or unique qualifications to be on the board of directors). Elections are held on the third monday of each november. Nominations for office are made between september 15 and october 15, and all members receive notice of election. 990 with schedules is discussed with an independent accountant. No member of the board participates in or votes on any issue in which they, or any family member, or any business in which they work for or have an interest in, is involved. A copy of our 990 is maintained in the office of our animal shelter and is available for public inspection during the hours we are open. By-laws and conflict of interest policy are maintained at the animal shelter office. Monthly financial statements are kept by the treasurer and contain confidential information regarding employees' payroll and donors, but any reasonable inquiries will be timely answered. Annual financial reports are printed on fundraising material and emailed to the public.”
