To bring fine symphonic orchestral and choral music to the people of quincy and the surrounding area, to provide organizations for local musicians to perform such music, and to create and support programs that encourage young musicians to continue fostering their interest and skills in symphonic and choral music.

To bring fine symphonic orchestral and choral music to the people of quincy and the surrounding area, to provide organizations for local musicians to perform such music, and to create and support programs that encourage young musicians to continue fostering their interest and skills in symphonic and choral music.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Symphony orchestra and chorus educates the public on the study and culture of instrumental and vocal music. Celebrated 75th anniversary with 10 concerts from october to april, with programming tied to the organization's history. Provided free admission for age 18 and under to all concerts (294 children). Commissioned visual artist to create an original big screen orchestra accompaniment. Orchestra performed major works including tchaikovsky's symphony no. 5, dvorak's symphony no. 8, and performances by virtuosic violin and piano soloists. Featured the dallas brass with orchestra, chorus & youth chorus at christmas. Facilitated dallas brass outreach into jr & sr highs in quincy and macomb, il. Chorus performed fall & spring concerts. Orchestra performed free educational concerts for 2900 students from 24 schools from 9 counties. Commissioned and premiered a new work for orchestra by roger zare. The finale concert included respighi's pines of rome with a dozen extra brass in the balcony of morrison theater.

Encore symphony volunteer council provides volunteer support and general fundraising for qsoa with a focus on youth music education. Held battle for baton and fairy tale tea fundraisers. Provided 9020 to qsoa, 940 to qsoa endowment, and 7400 in grants to high school musicians for summer music study, private music lessons, and concerto competition awards, and quincy's public & parochial school music programs.
