Activity 2

Public health education - as a member of the autism program network of illinois, easter seals provides educational activities related to autism to parents, teachers and the community at large. Public health education activities during fiscal year 2012 included: autism 101 training for students from bradley university and illinois central college, new diagnosis parent orientation training for parents and other family members of children with a diagnosis of autism, numerous presentations related to autism and available resources, first responder training, and ongoing education for those taking advantage of one of our autism resource centers. In addition to public health education related to autism, easter seals staff provide disability awareness through the coins for kids program which was used in more than 40 schools throughout the region and through participation in the 6th grade education program in mclean county, compact.

Activity 3

Camping and recreation - timber pointe outdoor center is the premier resource in the state of illinois providing specialized and inclusive camping and respite programming for individuals with disabilities and/or special needs and their families. Timber pointe outdoor center provides a safe, accessible and beautiful environment for our families. Over 1,208 children and adults with disabilities and special needs from all over illinois and the surrounding states attended camp. An additional 5,047 individuals participated in conferences, receptions, retreats, and team challenge experiences held at timber pointe outdoor center.
