“Active member pays lambda alpha and local chapter dues. Active member at-large pays lambda alpha at-large dues. Retired member is in fact retired, but wishes to do so may continue to have active member status by paying active member dues. Emeritus member has maintained active status for twenty 20 years, has served in leadership positions at the chapter or international level and has retired from professional work associated with land economics and nominated and voted for such status level. No dues required. International fellow of lambda alpha, an active member whose efforts have significantly advanced the purposes, organization, or growth of lambda alpha. Only the international board of governors shall confer fellowship and no more than two fellowships shall be conferred in each calendar year. The title of international fellow is additive to any other category of membership except honorary. There shall be no international or chapter dues required for an international fellow of lamda alpha.”

“Each active member shall be eligible to be nominated and elected to any international office provided, however, that the international president shall not be eligible toserve more than one consecutive term. Each elected officer of lambda alpha may serve a maximum of ten years, with the exception of an international president who may serve an additional two years as the international past president.”

“These bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds 2/3 vote of the international board of governors, provided that written notice of the substance of the proposed amendment has been sent to each member of the board at least sixty 60 days prior to the meeting of the board at which the amendment is to be considered. Upon receipt of any such notice the president of each local chapter shall promptly mail a copy of such notice to each member of his or her local chapter board of directors.”

“Treasurer of the organization distributes a pdf copy of 990 return to all board members for a review and comment prior to being filed.”

“Each board and committee board must annually notify the organization of any conflict of interest.if there is a discussion of selecting or engaging a vendor or service provider, all in attendance are asked to recuse themselves from this discussion if there could be a perceived conflict.”

“The board reviews the compensation for all vendors and consultants by comparing their compensation to the compensation of individuals in like positions in comparable organizations using forms 990, compensation studies, and other available data. There are no paid officers, directors, or key employees in this organization.”

“The organization will provide in a timely manner, copies of all governing documents including its conflict of interest policies and financial statements when requested in writing or in person.”

“The by laws changes were reported in the 2014 tax return and approved in 2015. The global chapter les pollock, chair will facilitate communications, educational programming, and connections between lai members who are interested in a global interchange of ideas regarding land economics issues, and are seeking a forum for discussion and linkage beyond the program offerings of their place based chapter.”
