Clair flats historical societys mission is to collect, protect, preserve and share with the public the unique historical artifacts and information that represents the diverse cultural composition of the people that occupied the area of the st. Clair river delta that is harsens island and the st. Clair flats.”

“The harsens island st. Clair flats historical society opened the museum over the memorial day weekend again in 2024, with many visitors and special groups visiting throughout the summer. We maintained our normal week-end hours may-september. Over the 2024 winter, we had to replace the roof over the original part of the building. We had made repairs to the roof over the last couple years, and although we wanted to wait for additional fund raising to replace the roof, continuing leaks accelerated the time frame for full replacement. Displays were also refreshed and updated over the winter to ensure continued interest in the museum. Our speaker series grew in 2024, with our most popular speaker our own chairman, whose history of harsens island presentation resulted in standing room only. After that presentation, we received a very generous donation to purchase a sound system for the museum. The museum now has the technology and equipment, including sound speakers and tv monitors, so additional attendees can be comfortably accommodated for the most popular speakers. The museum opens for 3 annual events after september, which are always popular - the fall pie sale, an edmund fitzgerald remembrance event, and the christmas cookie walk.”
