“Sbc = spring break science camp this weeklong program immerses pe students in the expertise and culture of a stem-based company or institution. Past partners have included: tata consultancy services, which led activities in coding and robotics; and motorola mobility, which paired girls from s4s with a diverse group of professional women. Sg = science giants (sg) sg provides students with meaningful and content-rich learning opportunities as docents or day camp counselors. Focusing on exhibit interpretation and facilitation techniques, the program builds scientific literacy while fostering civic responsibility, public speaking, scientific research, and interpersonal skills. Students develop their skills in the "learn, pursue, explore" model by learning how to speak to an audience, classroom management and communication skills then create a field trip curriculum for a civic institution. Fi = forensics investigators (fi) the high visibility of forensic science in the media, and the hands-on nature of the discipline, continue to make fi a popular and rigorous program for pe's youth. High school students gain hands-on experience in a variety of subdisciplines, including latent fingerprints, firearms and tread wear, biology/dna, microscopy, and drug chemistry. Each year students encounter a new "case," through the authentic process one would encounter on the job - gathering evidence at a staged crime scene, processing the evidence in a lab, analyzing the data, and presenting a conclusion.the experience culminates in a mock trial, complete with a real judge and legal advisors, where students present their analyses and findings as expert witnesses. Ea = environmental adventurers (ea) ea is aimed at engaging diverse, urban youth in the environmental sciences, biology, anatomy, and zoology subjects to develop skills in research in a meaningful and hands-on way. The participants involved in the program will do real scientific and environmental work with other participants while learning how to develop a research question to understand the importance of our environment.”
