Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

The joseph center's form 990 is prepared and reviewed by an external cpa firm. Once reviewed by the cfo, it is provided to and reviewed by the governing body before being filed with the irs.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Compliance with the conflict of interest policy is monitored and enforced through annual employee reviews, employee orientation and evaluation. Both board members and officers sign the annual statements which are reviewed by the treasurer. If a conflict were to arise, that individual would abstain from discussions and voting.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

The process for determining compensation of the vice president consists of using independent comparable data from outside sources such as compensation surveys and salary guides. Compensation is approved by the president of the board. The organization does not compensate any other officers. Therefore this question was answered no in accordance with the form 990 instructions.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

The organization's governing documents, conflict of interest policy and financial statements are available to the public upon request.

Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 2C:

The audit process has not changed in the current year.

FORM 990, PART IX, COLUMN D, FUNDRAISING EXPENSES:

The organization receives recurring contributions from unrelated organizations and government entities for its support and does not incur separate fundraising costs.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Jc is exempt from income tax under provisions of internal revenue code section 501(c)(3). Accounting principles generally accepted in the united states of america require management to evaluate tax positions taken by jc and recognize a liability if jc has taken an uncertain position that more likely than not would not be sustained upon examination of the irs or other applicable taxing authorities. Management has analyzed the tax positions taken by jc, and has concluded that as of december 31, 2017 and 2016, there are no uncertain positions taken or expected to be taken that would require the recognition of a liability or disclosure in the financial statements. Jc is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0JC IS EXEMPT FROM INCOME TAX UNDER PROVISIONS OF INTERNAL REVENUE CODE SECTION 501(C)(3).
